AFCEA White Paper Published: The Evolving State of Cyberwarfare

Excited to share that my latest AFCEA International Cyber Committee white paper, The Evolving State of Cyberwarfare: Capabilities, Challenges, and Projections of a Hyperconnected Battlefield, is now publicly available through the AFCEA Resource Library.

Cyberwarfare is no longer a niche topic reserved for military planners and cybersecurity professionals. As our societies become increasingly connected, the effects of cyber conflict extend well beyond the battlefield, impacting governments, businesses, critical infrastructure, and everyday citizens. This white paper explores how cyber capabilities are transforming modern conflict, examines the strategic and ethical challenges facing policymakers and military leaders, and analyzes the technologies and tactics shaping the next generation of cyber operations. It also looks ahead to the future of cyberwarfare, considering how artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, and an increasingly interconnected digital ecosystem will redefine both opportunity and risk.

The future battlefield will not be defined solely by geography, but by networks, data, and the ability to operate effectively in cyberspace. Understanding these changes is no longer optional for national security professionals, business leaders, or the public. I hope this white paper provides valuable context for the evolving cyber threat landscape and encourages meaningful discussion about how we prepare for the challenges ahead. The full white paper is now available through the AFCEA Resource Library, where it can be accessed and downloaded.
